Let it settle in … or … shake it off … gently, gently.

PRAYERSPITALITY Devotion ©2019 0207

7 And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8 He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts— 9 but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. 10 And he said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there.11 And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” 12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them. Mark 6:7-13 (ESV)

Hospitality is the word of advice, direction given by Jesus.
Advice and direction come to us, also, through Prayer with the Master. Prayer is being hospitable to God’s offer to come and enter.
These disciples, and we, are to receive hospitality; not to be self-reliant.
When hospitality is not given, when a hospitable spirit is not found, to the point of where they will not even listen, don’t take it personally, said the Master. “Shake it off,” he tells us.
The time is not right, their spirit is not receptive right now, there are other circumstances not correct at this time … whatever the reason, don’t accept their withholding of God’s definition of human relationship (“hospitality”) as being your issue. It’s theirs. Move on. Shake it off.
Neither are we to take credit for when hospitality is offered. The power we have comes through, not from us. Receive human hospitality as you received God into your life. And share God’s power for healing with those who offer you God’s hospitality. …
Share … even if they don’t agree with all your principles or notions of doctrine or other ideas of right/wrong. Those rigid calcifications are not mentioned here as being any part of the relationship, any more than Jesus uses them to distinguish sheep from goats (Matthew 25:31 ff.) Let go of those things that divide and separate us, and share in the hospitality God says is the basis of all meaningful human relationships.
